This is Ben Dworken, the creator and producer of The Benny D Show!
I’m your host: Benny D!
As an actor, writer, singer and producer living in New York City, I am a passionate advocate for Neurodiversity and inclusion and a strong supporter of organizations that nurture fellow artists with Autism. Originally from Connecticut, I was inspired to move to New York by friends in the Yale drama community. Once my dream of moving to New York became a reality, I used my signature networking skills to create opportunities for myself as an artist and expand my ability to advocate for others.
I am actively involved in many theater companies. I have built a strong and lasting relationship with AMiOS (Art and Music in Our Souls), where I have performed in several original one-act plays and feel connected to their mission of building community through the arts. I am also a proud member of New Ambassadors Theatre Company, which shares my passion for empowering a diverse group of artists through artistic excellence and a spirit of inclusion. Some favorite roles in other theater companies include Snug the Joiner in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Matt in Dog Sees God.
Equally at home on screen, I recently finished shooting one of my proudest accomplishments: Older Brothers. Inspired by my relationship with my younger brother, the short film tells the fictional story of my character, Max, a recently unemployed Autisic older brother who is only interested in throwing a party. I have also been a principal or featured actor in short films with companies such as IndieVISIBLE Entertainment and The Actor’s Green Room.
My dedication to the New York theater and film scene led to my appearance on Able: A Series on Amazon Prime Video. I was honored to represent the Neurodiverse actor community in a series that featured interviews with other inspirational performers like Tony-award winner Ali Stoker and Seinfeld’s Danny Woodburn.
When not on stage or filming, I am focused on building safe spaces in education, performance and socialization for people living with Autism. As a brand ambassador and volunteer for Actionplay, I support a program where participants create their own musical, and am a tireless advocate for the company so they can grow and contribute toward a more inclusive world.
I am always eager to be part of a knockout team for projects in theatre and film. With Autism as my superpower, I hope to change the face of the entertainment industry and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
